What to expect before the
dimpleplasty?
Since Dimpleplasty is a minimally invasive procedure there aren’t too many preparations necessary before the surgery from the patient’s perspective. But other than that, no special preparation is required from the patient’s side.
How is the
dimple creation surgery performed?

Next, a topical anesthetic will be applied on the inside of the mouth so as to numb any sensation. The anesthesia ensures that the procedure is painless for the patient and he/she feels no discomfort throughout the surgery. Generally, it takes about 10 minutes for the anesthetic to start taking effect.
- Once the anesthetic effect has set in, Dr. Santosh Bhatia will make a hole in the skin (as per the markings) from the inside of the mouth. The depth of the dimple will determine how much of the muscle or skin needs to be removed. Then the excess skin and muscle will be removed from the cheek.
- When enough space has been created for the dimple, Dr. Santosh Bhatia will add absorbable sutures from one side of the cheek muscle to the other. The sutures dissolve in a couple of weeks and the patient is left with perfect, natural-looking dimples!
What is the
recovery process of dimple creation surgery?
The recovery process for Dimple Creation Surgery is pretty unencumbered and simple. The patient can go home immediately and rest. There may be mild swelling for a couple of days on the cheeks. Applying cold packs can reduce the swelling significantly. Generally, the swelling will go away naturally over the week post-surgery.
The patient can start eating normal food after 2-3 hours of the surgery. For the first 2-3 weeks, the dimples will be visible at all times, after the 3 weeks, the dimples will be visible only when the patient smiles.
